Dearborn Country Club marks a renaissance for on of Southeast Indiana's most cherished socal and recreational institutions. In 1926, a group of businessmen from lawrenceburg and Aurora coneived the idea of a country club while on a fishing trip off the coast of Mexico. The envisioned an elegant gathering place for area families amongst the hills and forests of Dearborn County. Upon their return, the purchased the historic Wymond Estate overlooking the Wilson Creek Valley and establishe the historic old home, once a vital stop on the Underground Railroad, as the centerpiece of the old country club. The men commenced to build a scenic 18-hole golf course and many of the amenities associated withan exclusive club of those days. On February 2, 2003 fire destroyed the old mansion. Standing on the site of the original clubhouse is the new 25,000-square-foot facility featuring casual dining, banquet services, fitness center, pool and much more. |
